Judge me by the company I keep.

There are many baseball sites and blogs to choose from; I’m happy to recommend them to you, and I plan to do so as we go along together. The problem is that many of them are written by newbies who are trying to establish a name for themselves by having a blog in their name.

The Billy-Ball brand has been around since the 1990s, when I began writing about baseball and built a readership of thousands worldwide. It enabled me to pursue a career in baseball journalism. I have worked with, for, and alongside some of the great names in the business. People like Bob Ryan, Nick Cafardo, Peter Gammons, Dan Shaughnessy, Joe Posnanski, Tyler Kepner, Jayson Stark, Kenny Rosenthal, and Charley Steiner, to name drop a few. I have worked for The New York Times, MLB.com, MLB Network, The Boston Globe, NESN, The Chicago Sun-Times, USA Today, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and many others that, sadly, are no longer in existence (and I really can’t be blamed for their demise).

Not only am I proud of whom I worked with, but I’m even prouder to have developed friendships with people like Jayson Stark, Tim Kurkjian, Bob Nightengale, Jon Heyman, and so many others. These individuals are familiar to you; they are all heroes to me. I write to impress them. I write and send notes to broadcasters like Eric Nadel, Michael Kay, Tim Neverett, and Jose Mota, so they can share interesting statistics and stories with their audience.

Now, I want to share these notes directly with you, and I look forward to reading what you’ll share with me. I want to both teach and learn. I want to share and acquire knowledge about the past, present, and future of the sport we love.

It only works with you as a part of it.
