PCA HIT FOR THE ELCYC
Last night, Pete Crow-Armstrong became the first player to hit for the cycle this season. There were two things I loved about this event. First, he did it in reverse order. That’s called an “unnatural cycle.”
PCA started in the bottom of the 1st with his second leadoff home run in three games. Crow-Armstrong then led off the 3rd with a triple to center. He doubled in the 5th and singled leading off the 7th for the 13th cycle in Cubs history and only their second since 1993. In the bottom of the 9th, he also hit a sac fly that started the Cubbies rally from three down that led to a walkoff win against the Rockies. Crow-Armstrong joined Hack Wilson (1930) as the only other Cubs center fielders to hit for the cycle since 1901. Oh yeah, the other thing I loved. PCA was picked off first base by Brennan Bernardino after his single.
MOST RECENT CYCLE FOR EACH TEAM
Brock Holt of the Red Sox hit the only postseason cycle.
