THERE ARE UNDER 200 HOURS UNTIL THE TRADE DEADLINE
STREAKS
Shohei Ohtani has homered in five straight games for the Dodgers. That’s the longest streak so far this season in the majors. It also ties Shohei for the Dodgers’ franchise record with Joc Peterson, Adrian Gonzalez, Matt Kemp, Shawn Green, and Roy Campanella.
The Mets have won four in a row.
By taking two out of three games against the Cardinals and last weekend taking two of three against the Twins, the Rockies posted their first back-to-back series wins of the year. Hey, that’s a streak.
The Red Sox have won three straight series at home and host the Dodgers starting tomorrow night. They have lost their last two road series to the Cubs and Phillies (1-2). Hey, that’s a streak.
Nick Kurtz has a 10-game hitting streak. The A’s first baseman has 17 hits and is hitting .472 with five homers in the 10 games.
In his last two starts, Roman Anthony became the first Red Sox player ever to strike out four times in consecutive games. It was just the 23rd time in MLB history
that a player did that. He came off the bench last night and went 1-2. He has struck out in six straight games, totaling 13 Ks.
SWEEPS
The Pirates swept the Tigers. The Pirates became the first team since 1980 to get swept by the worst team in a league (White Sox) and then sweep the best team in that league (Tigers) in back-to-back series after the All-Star break.
The Mets swept the Angels.
The Astros swept the Diamondbacks. Houston leads the NL West by six.
